Mariann was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Frances and Raymond Otonicar on April 22, 1944. Mariann grew to be a scholar of many arts and attended, Beaumont School in Shaker Heights and graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1965 with a degree in Education.
Mariann married her college sweetheart, Paul L Effler shortly after her graduation from Miami University and shared a wonderful 56 years together. Mariann was a devoted and loving mother to her children, Lisa and Paul III, grandchildren Garrett, Evan and Emily and their spouses, Robin and Danny. She is survived by all the above including her sister, Bernadette (Bernie) Moore. She was precluded in death by her brother, Richard Otonicar.
Mariann was a teacher who was loved by many. Her former students often stayed in touch with her through their adult years. Her love of language was taught through English Literature, Poetry and Grammar all of which were passed on to her students and expressed through their work, dedication and desire to learn through the eyes of their mentor, Mrs. Effler.
She loved the arts, classical music and was President of Glendale, California Philharmonic. She was a patron of the arts and supported the Los Angeles Music Center as well.
Once she retired from teaching and relocated to Georgia, Traveling became her new passion. In addition to traveling, she loved to entertain with friends and family. When she was not on the go, she often spent quite moments with her husband, Paul at home or their Mountain Cabin in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. She was also a veracious reader and would often get lost in her latest book as well.
The list of her accomplishments, the people she touched, the people she loved is long as she was loved and valued by many.
