

Marie Hetrick McNeil of Atlanta, Georgia, died peacefully at The Mann House Assisted Living on Saturday, December 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 91.Marie was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio on March 29, 1923, a daughter of Embra Herman Hetrick and Louise Krueger Hetrick. She graduated from Oak Harbor High School and met her husband of 66 years, Raymond Lynn "Mac" McNeil, at Wright Patterson Air Force base (Wright Field) in Dayton, Ohio where she was a secretary and he was an Army Air Force Captain from Ennis, Texas. They were married on January 3, 1946.
Mac's career as a Mechanical Engineer took them to many new places including Middletown, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Dayton, Montreal and Oakland, California. They retired to Roswell, Georgia in 1985 and joined Horseshoe Bend Country Club where Marie enjoyed playing golf and was especially talented at bridge. So much so that Marie was known to have belonged to 13 bridge clubs at one time. Marie loved meeting new people and making new friends. She loved to laugh and enjoyed a good joke. She loved music and dancing. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Marie's greatest joy was her family.In addition to her husband, Mac, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Orlo E. Hetrick and Boyd F. Hetrick, and sisters Ruth Hetrick Baumgartner and Harriet Hetrick Krynock. Marie McNeil is survived by her son, Alan Lynn McNeil and his wife Susan of Spokane, Washington and daughter, Susan McNeil Hamilton and her husband, Warren, of Roswell, Georgia and grandchildren Ashley Marie McNeil, Patrick Lynn McNeil, Warren Hamilton III and several nieces and nephews. Marie's family wants to acknowledge the remarkable and loving care and attention that Sweet Marie received from the staff at The Mann House Assisted Living in Atlanta, and Tapestry Hospice as well. A Celebration Of Life will be held on Monday, January 12th, 2015 at the Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am, with the service at 12 noon. Internment will follow at a later date at the Myrtle cemetery in Ennis, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Marie's memory to The Salvation Army, or to the charity of your choice.
