Melissa Cole, 59, passed away on April 30, 2025, in Alpharetta, Georgia, after a courageous nine-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born on September 24, 1965, Melissa brought warmth and strength to every chapter of her life.
A proud graduate of the University of Delaware, Melissa pursued a career in physical therapy that reflected her deep compassion and commitment to helping others. She worked with patients recovering from spinal cord and brain injuries in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later in Northern California—sharing her talents and making a meaningful difference in the lives she touched.
In 1992, Melissa married Kent Cole in Cape May, New Jersey. Together they began their family journey in California, where their daughters Mandy and Joci were born. Eventually settling in Georgia, Melissa embraced motherhood with boundless energy and devotion. Whether acting as room mom, driving soccer carpools, or serving as a study partner late into the night, she was deeply involved in her children’s lives—always present with love and laughter.
Melissa shared her passions freely with her family—from cheering for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team to bonding over Marvel movies, Star Wars marathons, and Paramore playlists. These shared joys became cherished traditions that created lasting memories for those closest to her.
She was the best mother, daughter, sister, and wife her family could have asked for—giving them not only her time but also her whole heart. Known for living life with zest and keeping everyone on their toes (and often laughing), Melissa brought joy wherever she went. Her kindness was matched by an extraordinary ability to listen deeply and offer thoughtful advice. Friends and loved ones found comfort in her presence—a safe space where they could talk about anything or nothing at all.
Even during the most difficult moments of illness, Melissa remained graceful and resilient—rarely complaining and always facing each day with quiet determination and a kind word for everyone she encountered. Her strength inspired many and left an indelible mark on all who witnessed her journey.
Melissa is lovingly remembered by her husband Kent Cole; daughters Mandy and Joci; son-in-law Devon; parents Judy and Jerry; and sister Michele. Her family was a constant source of pride and joy throughout her life.
May the memory of Melissa Cole bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire strength and compassion in others.
