Dr. Michael Glynn Ellis, Sr, 63 of Alpharetta died on January 18, 2016. Michael was born on March 24, 1952 to the late John and Marguerite Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kay Ellis and his brother, John Edward Ellis. Michael received his BS and MS from Vanderbilt University and his PhD at Mississippi State in Electrical Engineering. He was employed with ADVA Optical Networking and with CardioMEMs, Inc. Michael was a member of IEEE and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Surviving are his sons, Michael Ellis, Jr, David Ellis II; daughter and son in law Sara and Justin Corey; brothers David Ellis, Robert Ellis; sister Carolyn Ellis Staton and his grandson, Miles Corey. A funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Michael will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:30 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the Mass at the Church. He will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church in Michael’s Honor and Memory.
