Our mom, "Ricky" known to all that knew her, lived an incredible life. She was born in Zrenjanin, Yugoslavia, and migrated to the US when she was a young teen. She spoke 5 languages fluently.
She was fierce in all that she did and all that she loved. One thing for sure that we knew about our mom, she always did things unapologetically "her way and with her own signature style."
She married our dad, the love of her life, and would often tell us the story about how they met at a local bistro in Chicago, Cafe la Cave. She said, " I knew I was going to marry that Greek God from the moment I laid eyes on him." They lived their lives to the fullest. We lived in Greece for 25 beautiful years, which she said were the best years of her life. She was more Greek than most Greeks. They traveled the world and partied like Rock Stars.
Our mom loved us unconditionally, but never allowed her love to "weaken" us. She raised us to be as strong and fierce as she was because she knew this day would come when we would be without her and would need her strength the most.
Ricky is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elias Nikolas (Nikolitseas). She is survived by her siblings, Cornelia and Mark Denow, Otto and Anna Richter; her children, Eleni and Joe Reese, Christos and Casandra Nikolas, and Anastasia Nikolas; her grandchildren: Michael Tsogas, Theodora Tsogas, Samantha Salerno, Julius Nikolas, Josh Reese, Penny Reese, and her great grandchildren Jacob Reese, Nayla Reese, Madyson Reese, Jace Reese.
We love you mom and yiayia. Forever.
