

Robert W. Gregory, age 85 of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away February 14, 2025. Bob, as he was known, was born December 22, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, to Robert E. Gregory III and Marion Louise Selph Gregory. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Virginia Carol Moore Davis, and his son, Douglas Scott Gregory, and is survived by his son, Thomas B. Gregory (Beth); daughter, Kimberly Sue Gregory Johnson; daughter in-law, Kathy Gregory (husband Douglas); his sister, Shirley Gregory Sorenson (Bob), and brothers, Richard Gregory (Kathy) and Wesley Gregory (Debbie). Bob has 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob grew up in the Highland Springs community outside of Richmond, attending Highland Springs High School. He was a proud Springer. While donning the black and gold, he participated on several athletic teams, including playing football for Coach Al Rinaldi. After high school in 1958, Bob joined the US Marine Corps. Upon graduation from Paris Island, he was stationed at Marine Barracks Washington D.C., also known as 8th and I. He was a member of The Silent Drill Platoon assigned to then President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
After the USMC, Bob began a 35-year career with Bosch Power Tools. A career that would see him eventually relocate to Roswell, Georgia. Upon retirement, he settled in Gainesville, Georgia.
Bob was a super competitive and driven individual. From his sales career to a “friendly” game of horseshoes with his son Douglas and longtime friend Walter Lawrence at the neighborhood pool, or later on the pickleball courts of Cresswind at Lake Lanier. Bob also developed a love of boating later in life. Often referred to as Captain Bob, he could frequently be seen on Lake Lanier with his beloved Golden Retriever, Gus, taking groups of people out on the lake; from children’s birthday parties to family gatherings. Dad (Grandpa) you will be missed.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Roswell Funeral Home at 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment Services will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
