

Robert (“Bob”) Edward Prouty, 68, of Roswell, GA, loving father, Poppi, and brother entered into eternal rest Friday, October 30, 2015 at Emory MidTown Hospital in Atlanta GA. He passed after a courageous 16-year fight, which included Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas before succumbing to a 3-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Bob was born in San Diego, CA, son of A. R. Prouty, Sr. (NV), and the late Ethel Mae Chestnut (SC). Bob grew up in Norfolk, VA experiencing a challenging childhood. He never made excuses for the hardships he faced, and instead built a better life for himself and his family.
He moved to California in the late 60s to study the beginning computer technology revolution, which resulted in a long successful 40-year career in the industry. Bob held various leadership positions managing large Information Technology teams for companies including Honeywell, StorageTek, Freddie Mac and CSC.
He lived in Virginia for 65 years and created a family he was forever proud of. He was a man who loved life to the fullest and was always ready to make a joke to bring people together. He will be remembered for his great hospitability, and the love he displayed for his entire family. As a testament to the life he built, he died peacefully surrounded by family members who traveled from all corners of the United States to express their love.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Daphine Wilson Prouty; his two sons, Robert Prouty II and his wife Theresa (CA), Christopher Scott Prouty (GA); and two beautiful grandchildren, Julia and Zachary Prouty (CA). Also surviving are his father, A.R. Prouty, Sr. and his wife Zenny (NV); Uncle Bud Chestnut and his wife Ginny (SC); brother A.R. Prouty, Jr. and his wife Margaret (CA); sister Lynn Flammer and husband Matt (VA); and sister Luella Windisch and her husband Bob (HI). Bob’s beloved extended family includes his brothers-in-law William Wilson (VA); Benjamin Wilson and his wife Linda (VA); Jim and Diane Wilson (IL); sister-in-law Recia Loraine Wilson (DC) as well as many nieces and nephews who enjoyed Bob’s company through the years.
Private services will be held with A Celebration of Life service planned for a later day.
