Wayne:  You were a "good egg," one who taught me the proper pronunciation of "Louw-a-ville," such that I became one of the only bona fide "Connecticut Yankees" I know to have the "inside dope" on the native patois for his lovely city.   Wayne, you were truly a "good ole boy!"

Wayne and I worked at James Municipal Equipment in Louisville, KY around 1974. Wayne was the parts manager and I was a mechanic helper. He saw clearly that I was not mechanical minded and gave me the idea that welding would be a suitable fit for me. A door opened a few months later and this October will be the sum of a 48 year welding career. God is so practical and uses practical people just like Wayne. I want to thank him the next time I see him. He made a difference. 

I often  think about my friend and biblical mentor, not only in my memory, but also in my writing. I look forward to one day seeing him again.

God bless you, St. Wayne.  I'm hoping you hear the prayers I whisper your way, renewing our kinship of seminary days.  You were a good friend to me; and I pray that I was the same for you.  You taught me a lot, especially, patience, humility and fortitude. 

I will always appreciate the gift of your Scripture analysis and reflection.  It serves me well now as a Spiritual Director.   

I know you are enjoying good times with St. Francis, Clare and the rest of the Franciscan phratry.   Please "kibitz" to St. Anthony that I still need a boatload of help to find tenants for my empty rental offices.   He most recently helped me fill the largest and most burdensome one.  Thank, you, St. Anthony.  God bless you, Wayne.  Love you!    Phil 


Condolences to all Wayne's family.  He loved you all very much in the gentle loving, Southern way he had.   My classmate @ St. Francis Seminary, he was always a feeling guy and a good egg.   He was always very spiritual, so the fact that he wrote many tracts on Scripture bespoke his "special connection" to the Almighty. 

We ask St. Francis and all his followers to meet Wayne @ the Pearly Gates and personally escort him to the throne of the Great King.

Nancy:  I was a classmate of Wayne's way back at St. Francis Seminary in Cincinnati.  Wayne reached out to me by way of email this past October, but gave no indication that he was ill.  My deepest condolences to you and to your family.

I will greatly miss my long-time Bible mentor.  Aside from many years of regularly attending his teaching in Sunday school class and several weekly Bible studies, Wayne was my self-designated mentor for all things Biblical, including his precise, if sometimes brutally constructive proofing of many of my pre-published Christian manuscripts. 

We often speak of someone as being "one of a kind," as all humans are, but God truly cut Wayne Clark from a different cloth. I once asked him if I might make a presentation on the shofar to one of his classes. His answer was, "Yes , , , I'll give you five minutes." I took nearly twenty minutes, but I could see both of his feet moving by the time I finished. Blessedly, for all who look forward to seeing him once again, death is not the end of life.

From my wife Helga and I, thank you, Wayne, for your life this side of heaven.


Wayne and I were coworkers briefly at James Municipal Equipment in 1974. After several confirmations that mechanics was not in my future, Wayne said, “Frank, you should get into welding, I think that would be a good fit for you.”  Thank you Wayne, for always being a straight shooter with me. My 46 year welding career was prompted by you, your advice turned out to be God’s design.
Then, in September 1979 I joined Wayne’s team of brothers in helping out in Mobile AL after hurricane Frederic. Wayne always lead by example. 

I'll always remember Wayne as my friend growing up.  He was my  Nephew, who was two yrs older than me. He seemed more like a brother when we were young. I thought of him and Nancy often ,although we lost touch, as life took us in different directions. I loved that he called me AUNT Nancy. ☺ My fondest memories are the time I spent with them when the twins were born.  That's when I learned what a strong woman Nancy was and what a great Dad he was going to be.
Most of all, Wayne loved the Lord with all his heart and served Him all his life. 
Now, he's resting in the arms of Jesus . ❤  Sending love and God's comfort to Vicki, Mike, Karen,  Nancy and family.
