William Patrick "Pat" McMullan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, just shy of his 83rd birthday, surrounded by his family. Born on March 23, 1942, in Jefferson, GA, Pat cherished his roots and frequently visited the family farm that held a special place in his heart. He courageously battled cancer for the last four years, demonstrating unwavering strength and determination to spend quality time with family and friends, regardless of his health.
A proud graduate of Jefferson High School, Pat never missed an opportunity to reconnect with classmates at annual reunions. Pat graduated from Georgia State University and received his MBA from Brenau University after deciding to go back to school in his 50s. While his wife and children attended Auburn University, he still cheered for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Pat's love story with his wife, Paula, spanned an incredible 62 years, after having met at the young age of 19 at Lockheed Martin in Marietta. She was the love of his life and she meant the world to him. Together they enjoyed their retirement years following Pat's retirement from Southern Company in Atlanta at the youthful age of 58. They invested all of their time in their family and friends and enjoyed their travels around the world or simply camping at the lake.
Affectionately known as "Pappy" to his seven grandchildren (Austin, Zach, Courtney, Caroline, Lanier, Tripp and James) and three great-grandchildren (Lanier, Virginia and Walker), Pat found immense joy in being actively involved in their lives. From attending sporting events and dance recitals to celebrating milestones and visiting them in college, he was a constant source of love and support.
An avid golfer, Pat was proud of his two hole-in-ones and enjoyed the camaraderie of his golfing buddies. He also found joy in bowling, boating, skiing, and traveling the world with Paula. His 300-bowling score was a testament to his skill and passion for the sport.
Pat was a devoted member of First Redeemer Church in Cumming, GA, where he found great joy in his Sunday school class and the Saturday men's breakfast group. His faith was central to his life and guided him in all he did. He made sure that those he spent time with knew of his love of the Lord.
He leaves behind his two children, Vicky Day (Peyton) and Pat McMullan, Jr. (Chris), who carry forward his legacy of faith, hard work, and the importance of family and friendships. Pat's life was a testament to these values, and he lived them fully until he was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.
In his final days, Pat was surrounded by his loving family, including his brothers Jimmy (Bonnie) and Joe (Linda) McMullan, and many dear friends. He expressed comfort and peace, knowing he would soon be in God's hands.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel McMullan of Jefferson, GA, his eldest brother, Thomas (Faye) McMullan of Jefferson, GA, and his in-laws, Bill and Jean Munro of Atlanta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Humane Society of Forsyth, a cause dear to Pat's heart.
Pat McMullan's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His was truly a life well lived, leaving a lasting legacy of love and faith.
A Celebration of Life honoring Pat will be held on Friday, March 28th at First Redeemer Church, 2100 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, GA 30041, at 11:00 am.
