Dora Calderon Camacho, 79 years old, beloved wife, mother, and grandma, passed away peacefully in her home in Rancho Cucamonga, CA on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10:00 am, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 6, 1936 in Bogota, Colombia, to parents Transito and Pedro Pablo Calderon, one of nine children. Early in life, she worked at various industries including embroidery and printing companies. Dora met the love of her life, Alvaro, in 1956 at the embroidery company in which they were both employed. Dora and Alvaro dated for 3 years and loved to dance and party at family gatherings and often visited the Colombian countryside and the coastal city, Cartagena. They were married on August 15, 1959 and were blessed with three children - Orlando, Amparo, and Diane.
Dora and her family moved to the United States in 1965 and settled into Los Angeles, CA. Dora quickly found employment and worked at Precision Printing Company where she worked for 32 years as a print operator. Even though she worked many years and long hours, Dora always encouraged her children to go to school and enjoy life to the fullest. She was known for her famous parties where everyone danced and partied for hours on end.
Dora was diligent, vivacious, and a gentle soul. She loved to listen and dance to Carlos Vives, cook authentic Colombian food, gardening, and shopping with her daughters. You can always count on her to light up a room with her smile and energy.
Dora is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alvaro, her son Orlando, daughters Amparo and Diane, daughter-in-law Ana Maria, son-in-law Romeo, and her beautiful grandkids Vanessa, Ashley, Monica, Daniel, Britney, and Brandon. She will be deeply missed by her family.
