Alfreda LaVern Samuels was born July 20, 1955 to Eddie Lean Rowland in Miami, FL. She was the youngest of three. She attended the public schools in Miami, Fl after graduating. She furthered her college education. Alfreda LaVern Samuels later moved to San Francisco, CA in the late 1970’s where she served in United States Army for many years as Chef. Corporal Alfreda Samuels was honorably discharged in 1980.
Her interests included family, fishing, and cooking. She would have breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by noon. Alfreda was a woman of many talents. She was an amazing artist and loved gardening. Anything she touched would flourish. Everybody knew her and when someone saw one of her children, they’d say “you Freda child!"
She is preceded in death by her mother Eddie Lean Rowland and grandfather James Lewis Rowland.
Alfreda LaVern Samuels is survived by five children: Fred and Robyn Samuels of Wrightsville, GA;
Marcus Dalton “Willie Lee” of Columbus, OH; JoyMarie and Danielle Owens of Savannah, GA;
Denise Laverne Samuels of Seattle, WA; and Hal Samuels and Chanelle Stanley of Murfreesboro, TN.
Also, survived by two grandsons Rockevion Samuels and Quymasi Samuels, one sister Linda Pullen-Green of Wrightsville, GA; one brother Thomas Fann of Miami, FL; special sister OlaMae Williams “Doll”and a host of other relatives and friends. And we can’t forget “princess” her little four legged grandchild who she adored. Ethel Bartmess “Partner in Crime” you are mom’s best buddy and she loved you. Thank you.
