On Sunday, September 9th 2018, Alma Evelyn Sewald entered into eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Sewald, her parents, David and Amelia, and her brother, David. She is survived by her sister Wilma, daughters, Gloria, Karen, Lori and Teresa as well as 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Born on November 28, 1933, in Gering, Nebraska, Alma spent most of her time growing up in Sidney, Nebraska where she met her husband, John. They moved to Sacramento, California in May 1965 where Alma went to work at McClellan Air Force Base for 4 years. Alma has been a devoted member of St. Mary's Parish for 54 years. Alma fiercely loved her family and especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed countless items for her family. Alma expressed her pride in her German heritage through music, dance and especially food. Her family was the beneficiary of numerous German dishes every year and her recipes, as well as her generous spirit, will live on through her surviving family. Alma Evelyn Sewald will be remembered as a loving and generous spirit to all who knew her. A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor on Friday, Sept.14 at St. Mary Parish, 1333 58th St, Sacramento, CA 95819 with a reception following at Heritage Senior Park Community Center, 700 2nd Street, Galt, approximately 1:30 pm.
