Daniel Patterson

Daniel Patterson died suddenly in Sacramento, CA, September 19, 2017 at the age of 73. Daniel Patterson was born on August 28, 1944 the youngest of four sons, in Portland, Oregon to Kenneth Dillard Patterson and Helen Connell Patterson. He was raised in Lake Oswego where he enjoyed a carefree childhood and formed lifelong friendships. Dan swam and water skied in Oswego Lake. After graduating from Lake Oswego High School (LOHS ‘62), he attended the University of Oregon and also Portland State. Dan married Jane Adams in 1971 and they had 3 sons. They divorced in 1996. They made their home in Lake Oswego until 1985 when they moved to Bend, OR. Dan worked as production manager and part owner of Lang’s Rose City Upholstery from 1972-1985. Dan was a follower of Jesus. He served as vestry member at Christ Episcopal Church in Lake Oswego. In 1985 they moved to Bend, OR where he served as vestry member at Trinity Episcopal Church. Between 1985 and 1989 Dan worked at various positions in the lumber industry. In 1989 he went to work as a lumber broker for Pan Pacific. In 2000 Dan went to work for and later Pelican Bay Forest Products. In 2003 he married Betsy Levy (whom he had known since third grade) and moved to Sacramento, CA and continued to work for Pelican Bay until he retired in 2006. Dan was an expert snow skier, a kind and loyal friend to everyone he met, was generous, with a fine sense of humor and his smile never wavered. While in Sacramento Dan and his wife Betsy enjoyed golfing, swimming, gardening and RVing, visiting friends, family and exploring the countryside. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Kenneth Patterson. Dan is survived by his wife Betsy Levy Patterson, his brother David Patterson (wife Kay Hart); his three sons: Daniel James Patterson (Kristin and son Van), John Patterson (Brenda and children Brooke and Jannik), Jeffrey Patterson (Kari and children Dutch and Heidi); two step daughters: Patricia Bockoven (Shawn and children John, Sidney and Cassidy), and Michelle Dougherty (Don and children Morgan, Madison, Logan and Connor). A Celebration of Life will be held on October 14, 2017 at 2 pm at Lombard Funeral Home, 1550 Fulton Ave., Sacramento, CA. Another Celebration of Life will be held on October 28 at 2 pm at New Hope Church, 20080 Pinebrook Blvd., in Bend, OR. Dan would tell you to donate to the charity of your choice in his memory.
