Dott Messier, a lifelong Californian known for her warmth, generosity, and unmatched flair for entertaining, passed away peacefully. She was born in Santa Monica, where her spirited and giving nature first took root.
From a young age, Dott showed a remarkable work ethic and deep devotion to her family, helping her father run his Dairy Queen franchise while still in high school. Though she went on to spend over 30 years working in the insurance industry, her true passion was always interior design, a talent she expressed beautifully through her home and the welcoming spaces she created for others.
Dott’s home was the heart of countless joyful gatherings, backyard barbecues, and legendary swim parties that brought friends and family together year after year. She loved nothing more than opening her doors to those she cared about, filling her home with laughter and unforgettable memories.
Family meant everything to Dott. She had a deeply loving relationship with her niece Jenelle and nephew Louis, whom she treated as her own children. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Anne, with whom she shared a special, lifelong closeness. Her legacy continues through her five great-nieces and nephews: Nick, Taylor, Dylan, Preston, and Hannah, each of whom brought her great pride and joy.
Dott had a gift for making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and loved. All who met her were touched by her humor, charm, and generous spirit. A longtime and enthusiastic QVC shopper, Dott had a knack for finding the perfect item, whether it was for herself or as a thoughtful surprise for someone she loved. She was also a devoted Los Angeles Dodgers fan, cheering on her team through every season.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the joy of knowing her. In her honor, we celebrate a life lived with style, kindness, and an open heart.
