Educated with an Associates Degree from the College of the Sequioas, a Bachelors degree at Cal State Sacramento and specialized certifications, she held employment at places such as Tia Maria, Mystery Sleuth's Mystery Shop, Thunder Valley Casino Resort, US Post Office, and long hours at the Superway Market. She served a 28 year career with wonderful lifelong co-workers at the State Teachers Retirement System.
Ellen lived a simple life with a smile on her face. She always put others' needs before her own. While she loved exploring restaurants and mystery shopping with her husband, she also collected tens of 1000's of food recipes for an opportunity to cook for anyone on any occasion. Her sweet potato and Pepsi ham recipes were a Thanksgiving favorite. She never let an ocean's distance separate her relationship with her little sister's family. Her most recent passion was spending time with her two grandchildren, 4 year old Maile Elizabeth Reynon and 2 year old Alyssa Malia Reynon. She loved how they would run to the front door and enthusiastically yell, "LOLA!" during her frequent visits. They were always excited to open her red plaid bag to discover the day's special treat.
Her fierce spirit and courageous battle against cancer allowed her to fulfill a complete circle of life with endless ripples of positive influence to everyone that had the opportunity to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacramento Central Seventh Day Adventist Church, 6045 Camellia Ave. Sacramento, CA 95819.
