  Hold on tight to Ellen memories for those we love don't go away, they walk besides us every day. Unseen,unheard,but always near,so loved,so missed,so very dear.

Ellen was my friend, my buddy for 43 years. It all started with a week of smiles back and fore in a Social Science class, which lead into working on a class assignment together. Each semester we took our classes together. We were two women so much alike, yet somewhat different. My first impression of Ellen, she was a very shy person like me. But as our friendship extended beyond the school, I discover my friend was not as shy as I thought, and she had more life experience than I had.

We had a lot of similar likes, but few dislikes. Our biggest likes were eaten, traveling, talking, movies, sleeping, and did I say…Eaten!! We enjoyed those Sara Lee's Pound cakes, with two scoop of ice cream (vanilla for me, Ellen an favor); she was not picket like me. Our dislikes: coffee and tea for Ellen, but not for me, I did not like to shop, but Ellen loved to shop.

I will try and give you a quick run-down on what our past 43 years consisted of:
 We started our friendship at California State University, Sacramento.

 We shared a townhouse together.

 The courtship between Ellen and Ray (Ray would call me and say, Ellen want go out to dinner with him unless I would go with them, so I would tag along)… anything for a free meal.

 Then, there was the birth of Raul, I was there through the labor, and I got to hold Raul before Ellen and Ray. Ellen was a little dehydrated, so Raul was the cuties little dried up prune with porcupine hair.

 We both liked traveling, so some of the places we visit were: San Francisco, Las Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, two trips to Disneyland, one trip to Disney World, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studio in Los Angeles and Orlando, FL; and Seattle, WA area.

 We collected McDonald's beanie babies, plus some extra body weight in the process.

 We shared many family events, such as family marriages, births, graduations, illness and deaths. Ellen like my family a lot, and they also like Ellen and her family.

 We always remember and shared birthdays and holidays. She loved my son, and I love her son; and now I love her son's beautiful family. Ellen was a good mother, wife, grandmother and friend. Ellen also had a lucky streak in her, when she played the slot machines she always walk away with a little extra change. Not so good with the lottery, but man I wish she would have won…because she promise if she ever hit it big, she would share with me.

You may ask what I will miss now that Ellen is gone; well the answer is all of the above. I will miss my road buddy; I will miss her listen ear, her shoulder to cry on, the smiling face, the morning wake-up calls, and even the interrupted calls she enjoyed making, when I'm watching Days of Our Lives TV soap. But most of all…she will never get to see my son get married, or see my grandchildren.

They say when you pass on you are going home, you have no pain, or worries, or sorrows, you are walking to heaven with the wings of an angle embracing you. I'm sure her mother, father, grandparents and all the rest of her deceased relatives are there to greet Ellen, to continue the walk and place her in the hands of God. Right now heaven is rejoicing, because a great woman is headed their way! The next time you are outside and see a bright sun shining from behind a cloud, that's Ellen, saying…I made it here. When you see a bright star in the sky at night, that's Ellen, saying…I'm watching over you.

Just like I have memories, I'm sure you have more, cherish those memories and she will always live within our heart. Ellen may be gone, but not forgotten.

Love you Ray, Raul, Julie, Maile and Alyssa, you will always have a big place in my heart. The above message is just a brief message of all the fun memories I have of Ellen, she will be missed.

I worked with Ellen during all of her years at CalSTRS.  We shared lots of laughter  and solved many difficult teacher account issues together.  Ellen always had a great attitude, a sweetness about her and a willingness to help others.  My sincere condolences are sent to her loving family.

Uncle Ray, Raul and Family. Our hearts and thoughts are with you all. Aunt Ellen was such a beautiful woman inside and out. She was a woman with a good sense of humor. To Ellen, life is never long enough to do everthing we want to do, but know your time here has left many wonderful memories for those you've loved.

My heart goes out to Ray, Raul, other family members and friends.  This is a difficult time, but know that there are others out there that cares. The ways that Ellen has touched our lives will not be forgotten. There is no greater example of her nurturing love than the amazing son she raised and grandchildren she cherished. She will be deeply missed.

Miss Ellie will be missed. God Bless your family through this time of sorrow.

My dear friend Ellen. We had some good times together. I always remember every time I spent with her was fun. I know she is in a better place now but she made this place better with her presence.
