It is with heavy hearts that we are faced with the passing of our beloved, Enoch (Benny / Junebug) Benson Jr, who died peacefully in his sleep in Sacramento, CA. on January 28, 2025, at the age of 92. He was a joyful man filled with spirit, who loved life deeply.
He loved his wife Joyce Benson, to whom he has been married to for 56 years, and his entire family.
Enoch Jr., was born in Holly Springs to Enoch Benson Sr. and Quizinie Cathy, in Mississippi and was raised in Chicago, Il.
Enoch Jr., who was lovely called Benny by family and friends, was a proud military man and retired from the US Airforce in 1972 after an honorable twenty years of service. Post-retirement he dedicated many years working at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Sacramento, California. He loved sports and could be found frequently in the bowling alley, on the softball field or perhaps watching the 49ers game on T.V. from his favorite chair at home. In the year of 2009, he was thrilled to be inducted into the Greater Sacramento Area Bowling Hall of Fame.
Benny’s loving spirit is carried on by, his wife: Joyce Benson, Sacramento, CA. 2 daughters: Linda Carroll - Chicago, IL, Marcella Benson-Quaziena {Linda} - Seattle, WA., 5 sons: Enoch Benson IV {Eunice}-Indiana, Zachery Scott Benson - Houston, TX, Barrett Todd Benson {Jennifer}- Nicholas, CA, Stephen Mark Benson {Rebecca}-Sacramento, CA, Trevor Douglas Benson – Los Angeles, CA and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends. He is preceded in death by his: mother, Quizinie Cathy, father, Enoch Benson, Step-father, Willie Cathy, sister, Alberta Leak and Daughter, Christina Benson.
Benny will certainly be missed by his family and many friends.
