Frank D Bottaro Sr, retired Civil Engineer, life-long resident of Sacramento, California, died unexpectedly on 10-24-18 at the age of 78. Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary; his son, Frank D Bottaro Jr; daughter in-law Misty; granddaughter Kaitlyn. He is predeceased by his father, Frank C Bottaro; his mother, Sigrid Bottaro; grandfather, Fred Bottaro; grandmother, Theresa Bottaro.
Frank was born in Sacramento on February 10, 1940 to Frank C and Sigrid Bottaro. He graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1962 with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked for the department of Water Resources for the State of California for 38 years. On August 6, 1966 he married his beloved wife Mary, a retired school teacher. They met at Catholic Alumni Club where they played bridge. On May 3, 1975 he welcomed his son Frank D Bottaro Jr into the world.
Frank was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed cheering on the San Francisco 49ers. His all-time favorite past time was going on cruises with his beloved wife Mary. They went on many journeys that included trips around the world with Italy being his favorite stop. He loved Sudoku, puzzles, and crossword puzzles.
Viewing is 4:00PM to 7:00PM with a rosary following after at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home located at 5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, California 95819 on Friday, November 2, 2018. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00AM on November 3, 2018 at Our Lady of Presentation located at 4123 Robertson Ave, Sacramento, California 95821. Burial at Saint Marys Cemetery located at 6700 21st Avenue, Sacramento, California 95820. Reception will be at Presentation Church Immaculata room next to the church after burial. In lieu of flowers the family is asking to donate towards American Cancer Society.
