

Fred Hutchinson was born March 30th 1929 at Alta bates Hospital in Berkley, CA to Dorothy Anna Paula and Fred Clarence Hutchinson. He attended College of Pacific (now university of Pacific) where he was a member of Omega Phi Alpha Fraternity (now Delta Upsilon) graduating in 1953. There he met and married his college sweetheart, Judy Louise Allen, with whom he had two daughters, Carol Paskulin (Marc) and Jana Zagari. Fred taught school in Hilmar, CA for two years before moving to Sacramento and becoming a history teacher at California Middle School and C.K. McClatchy High School, retiring in 1987 after 24 years of teaching. Teaching allowed him to continue spending his summers with his family at Wrights Lake where they spent happy days hiking, fishing, and camping. Fred worked building cabins and cabin decks while there. He was an avid fisherman ad backpacker whenever time allowed. He and his wife enjoyed traveling until her death in 1993. In 1998 he married Meride Brolliar and they enjoyed many summers at Wright Lake where they had met as young children. They continued their enjoyment of travel, golf, and bridge games with friends. Fred became a docent at the California Auto Museum and was an active member meeting and guiding visitors for many years. He will always be remembered by his many students and friends as a kind and loving person. It is said that he made history come alive and interesting to those he taught, many returning to thank him for making them interested in the subject. He is preceded in death by one brother, Thoman Brannon Hutchinson of Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Meride of 26 years, two daughters, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and a step-son, Dav White of Manhattan beach, CA. Services will be private.
