Guillermina Lares (Mina) passed unexpectedly at her home on February 5th at the age of 89. She leaves behind her beloved husband Roberto, daughters Lisa, Bertha, Gema, Patricia, Lily, Maria, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mina was born in Oaxaca, Mexico. She worked at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento and retired after more than 30 years. Mina was known for her amazing cooking. She was a natural cook who could put together a delicious meal with only a few ingredients and had food ready to eat. Her home-cooked meals were expressions of her love and generosity. She never let anyone leave empty handed.
She was always beautifully dressed and never left the house without lipstick, sunglasses, matching jewelry, her hair and nails done.
She lived a life full of love for dancing, music, bus rides to the casinos, cards and church. She found much solace in prayer, her faith guiding her through life’s joys and trials. Her love for hugs was matched only by her affection for ice cream, tortillas and See’s Candy.
As we mourn the loss of Mina Lares, let us carry forward her legacy of love, generosity, and joy. May her memory continue to inspire us to smile at strangers, to savor life's flavors, and to hold onto the hands of those we love. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace in heaven our dear Mina. You are deeply loved and will be remembered always.
