I worked for Lee about 40 years ago at DWR and he was in Toastmasters with me. He was always a gentlemen.

Sorry to hear of Lee's passing. I enjoyed the many years of service with Lee at the Temple. Both at Oakland and Sacramento Don Homer

I worked with Lee at the California Department of Water Resources.  Lee retired and then came back to work for years and years as a retired annuitant for DWR.  He was a fit and active man and he worked until his mid 80s.  Lee was the nicest man you could imagine and we went out one day and played 9 holes of golf at William Land Park.  Lee loved his job and I was amazed he still wanted to work in his 80s but he did.  Later after he finally retired for good, I circulated a funny birthday card among DWR staff for his 90th birthday and mailed it to his home.  I called on the phone and he and his wife received the card and got a kick out of it.  It was the last time I talked to Lee but I'll carry that memory with me.

Lee was one of the really good guys I have met in my life.   He was already retired when I met him, but even as a retired annuitant was very diligent worker.   He was very much respected and well liked.

But I enjoyed mostly talking with Lee about his early life.   I remember him telling me about the poverty of he grew up with, but didn't realize it at the time and in one Christmas when received a pair of socks and an orange.  Lee was a USN veteran as am I, and we talked about his ship and the WWII engagement he was involved with.  

I think of him often.
