
Marina Schwed age 93, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, in Folsom, California.
Born on May 17, 1932, in Harbin, China, Marina led an extraordinary life that spanned continents and generations. Her early years were shaped by a rich cultural tapestry as she lived in Indochina, Tianjin, and Shanghai before immigrating to the United States at the age of 18. These formative experiences instilled in her a deep appreciation for the world's diversity and a lifelong curiosity that would define much of her journey.
Marina pursued higher education at the University of California, Berkeley, attending for several semesters before marrying George. Once George passed, she found her true calling in holistic wellness. She became a massage therapist and went on to establish her own business---an endeavor that reflected both her entrepreneurial spirit and her commitment to helping others find healing and balance.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Marina's family was central to her life. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Xenia Schwed and her husband Jim Lieb; and Elena Schwed and her partner Lisa Venner. Her legacy continues through her grandson Nicolas Schwed and his wife Cornelia Klein. Marina was predeceased by her beloved husband George Schwed and their son Alexander Schwed.
Marina had an insatiable love for travel, having visited 47 countries throughout her lifetime. Her adventures were often captured through her lens of her camera---photography being one of her greatest passions alongside reading. These hobbies not only enriched her own life but also offered those around her glimpses into the beauty she saw in the world.
A woman of faith, Marina was affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church throughout her life.
Her family expresses deep gratitude for the values she imparted---kindness, resilience, curiosity---and for raising them to be good humans. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
