Mary C Morris

Mary Colella Morris, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on October 3, 2015 in Sacramento, California during a powerful thunderstorm. We know the heavens were opening up to welcome our sweet angel. Mary was a longtime resident of East Sacramento, living in the same home for 67 years. She was born Maria Colella on April 24, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts to Angelo and Antonetta Colella. Mary was very physically active her entire life and was a constant “ball of energy.” She enjoyed swimming with her grandchildren and riding her bike around the neighborhood until she was well into her 80’s. She also liked to sew and cook - her many specialties included Italian dishes and her famous cheesecake for every family occasion. She was also known for her very detailed bookkeeping skills and writing out checks on her old-fashioned typewriter. But the most important part of her life and one thing she loved most was being with and taking care of her family. She taught her family to be kind to all, and Mary was the most perfect example of this. We will miss her dearly.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Morris; her sister, Gracie Collela; her brother, Michael Colella. Mary is survived by her loving sons, Anthony Guidera and John Morris of Sacramento; her brother, Carlo Colella; her grandchildren, Jimmy, Nicholas, Michael, and Kaitlyn Morris; her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Stella, and Kyla.
