In loving memory of Monique Marie Figlietti, who passed away on February 9, 2024, due to brain cancer and a stroke at the age of 77. Born in Lewiston, Maine, Monique was the devoted wife of Daniel Figlietti, the loving mother of Richard and Eva-Marie Figlietti, and the adoring grandmother to Elizabeth Kimerer and MacKenzie Gordon. She is survived by her sister Carmen and countless nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Monique and Daniel were married for 58 years. Together, they had many adventures that included water skiing and fishing during summer vacations, enjoying trips to Disneyland and Disney World with their children and grandchildren, and traveling the world on cruise ships to Alaska, Mexico, and the Caribbean. They loved vacationing at Lake Almanor so much they purchased a home and retired there.
Monique found joy in every job she held. From her first job as a Civilian for the US Navy, to school district offices, to corporate companies like Nabisco and GE. She excelled wherever she went.
Monique was a talented fabric artist. She began by sewing her own clothes, but by retirement, she made many quilts for family members and friends, bridesmaids' dresses, and her granddaughter’s wedding dress. She created extraordinary art with the sewing machine, winning numerous blue ribbons, best in shows, and even a judge’s choice award at the Pacific International Quilt Festival.
Growing up, whether help was needed with homework or just a shoulder to cry on, Monique was always there for her children. She specifically chose jobs in the school district so that she could have the same days off as her children when they were young. She was a woman of strong faith and instilled in her family the importance of family, hard work, and integrity. Monique always cared for others, through her ministry over many years at various Catholic churches, to her final job at Hands of Hope, a resource center for the unhoused in Yuba City. She was a true role model who will always be looked up to.
Monique was a kind, caring, and giving person who always put the needs of her family and strangers before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched, as she was a source of inspiration to all.
Her memorial service will be held on June 15th at 1:00 PM (doors open at noon) at Harry A. Nauman & Son Funeral Home (4041 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento, CA). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hands of Hope in Yuba City in her honor.
Mom, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
