Born May 24, 1919 in Somerville, Massachusetts to Wladyslaw Zaborowski and Aniela Sarzynska, hard-working immigrants who arrived from Poland during the turn of the 19th century. Wanda passed away May 29, 2014 shortly after her 95th birthday. She graduated in 1936 from Northampton High School and accepted a full scholarship to Smith College which was a rare opportunity for somebody already residing in the college town of Northampton, MA. She graduated from Smith in 1941 with an AB degree in English. During graduate studies 1941-1943 at Iowa University she and Fred Simoni met and they became engaged after just two weeks! On June 9, 1945 they married in Chico, CA. She and her husband were one of the first to settle in Arden Park in 1948, largely building their home themselves where she had lived continuously until her death.She had a passion for English literature and poetry, teaching English at both the high school and college level for three years, as well as having 45 poems published. She became a full-time homemaker, gardener and also enjoyed playing Chopin on the piano to the end. Predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Frederic, in 1998, and a daughter, Sonia Eloise who died after just two days. She is survived by her first son, Eric and wife, Connie Jo, and their two children Sebastian and Sophia and granddaughter Iliana of Suisun City, CA; second son, Arden and his wife, Valentina, of Carlsbad, CA and their son, Roma and wife, Ella, of Sacramento; third son, Stacy of Sacramento; and her youngest child, daughter, Sondra, of Sacramento.
