Doris (nee Cambell) Kobler, 96, on Monday, January 4, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Lester Kobler; loving mother of Susan (John) Pais; dear grandmother of Michelle Pais and Mark Pais; dear sister of Margaret (the late Gene) Eakes, and the late Virginia (Jim) Maule and James (Mary) Campbell; our dear aunt and friend to many.

Doris was the daughter of the late Archibald Campbell and Hallie (Townsend), and was born in Ironton Missouri. As a young woman, Doris moved to St. Louis where she met Lester at Shaw Avenue Methodist Church. They wed in 1954 and enjoyed over 56 years of marriage. The majority of her life she lived in Cool Valley and Ferguson Missouri where she was an active member of Ferguson Methodist Church for over 50 years and developed lifelong friends. Doris held a variety of clerical positions over the years including working for a railroad, bank, Pevely Dairy, Sears and finally Edison Brothers Shoe Company where she retired. Following retirement, Doris and Les enjoyed traveling to Europe, Canada and in the US with friends. One of the highlights of retirement life for Doris was becoming a Grandmother which was her favorite job! Always eager to babysit and host sleepovers, she and Les played an important role in the lives of their grandchildren. At age 90, she moved to Creve Coeur Assisted Living where she enjoyed her apartment and the social activities of the community.

Whenever I would see Aunt Doris she would say, "Well Hi Marilyn" and it was always followed by a little giggle.

I remember my whole life Aunt Doris and Uncle Les hosting
Thanksgiving dinner for our whole family - all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins. When the family grew to the point that it was hard to fit everyone in their small home she had to give up that tradition. Those were fond memories I will always cherish.

I remember going camping with Doris, Les and Susan when I was
still in high school. We went to Michigan where we picked cherries from an orchard that welcomed us to pick free of charge.
We brought all of the cherries back to camp and my mother and Doris cooked and cooked those cherries over a camp stove.
It was dark outside and they couldn't really see how firm the
preserves were getting. They kept sending Uncle Les to the
store to buy more sure-jell. In the morning they discovered
the preserves were so stiff you could hold the jars upside down
and nothing moved. It turned out more like taffy than preserves
but it really tasted great!

Doris is an aunt that I will always remember with love.

I thank you for the opportunity to have had the chance to provide care for her while I was employed there. I will pray that you find comfort in God's decision to take her home to rest. She was a woman with a beautiful ability to play the piano. Thank you again
