Yvon Lajoie

October 8, 1945 – August 3, 2025

With profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of our dad, Yvon Lajoie, who was called home to be with his Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with cancer.

Yvon was more than a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend… he was the steady heart of our family and the wisest man we knew. Grounded in his faith and guided by his compassion, he lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering integrity. He was a role model to all who knew him, a teacher not only in words, but in the way he lived his life… with humility, grace, and deep respect for others.

Yvon leaves behind his wife, Marguerite Thies, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He will be deeply missed by his children: Richard, Caroline, Mark, and Mitch, who were each shaped by his patient guidance and unconditional love. He also welcomed their partners: Karine, Mike, Lesley, and Mélie into the family with the same warmth and love, embracing them as his own. His grandchildren: Brianna & Jamie, Ryan & Tyler, Griffin, Cooper, & Hugo, were his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. He was also a proud and loving dad to his cherished “princesses”: Peaches, Gerty, and Lucy.

Yvon is survived by his siblings Pierette, Norman, Lynn, Claudette, and Adrienne, who will remember him for his enduring love of family and the wisdom he shared so generously.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the incredible caregivers who made his battle hopeful, and his final days peaceful and dignified. To the compassionate team at the Royal Victoria Hospital, the dedicated palliative care staff of the CLSC, and the angels at Maison Source Bleue. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and care.

A viewing will be held on Monday, August 11th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a chapel service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at:

Though we mourn his loss deeply, we rejoice in the knowledge that our dad now walks in the light of God, surrounded by everlasting love. His legacy of faith, wisdom, and love lives on in all of us, and we will carry his spirit with us. Until we meet again. Bon Voyage.

En mémoire amoureuse d’Yvon Lajoie

C’est avec une profonde tristesse et un amour profond que nous annonçons le décès de notre père, Yvon Lajoie, qui a été appelé pour être avec son Seigneur et Sauveur après une bataille courageuse contre le cancer.

Yvon était plus qu’un mari, père, grand-père, frère et ami dévoué... il était le cœur stable de notre famille et l’homme le plus sage que nous connaissions. Ancré dans sa foi et guidé par sa compassion, il a vécu une vie marquée par la gentillesse, la force tranquille et l’intégrité inébranlable. Il était un modèle pour tous ceux qui le connaissaient, un enseignant non seulement dans ses mots, mais aussi dans la façon dont il vivait sa vie... avec humilité, grâce et une respect profond pour les autres.

Yvon laisse derrière lui sa femme, Marguerite Thies, avec qui il a partagé une vie d’amour et de partenariat. Il manquera profondément à ses enfants : Richard, Caroline, Mark et Mitch, qui ont chacun été façonnés par sa guidance patiente et son amour inconditionnel. Il a également accueilli leurs partenaires : Karine, Mike, Lesley et Mélie dans la famille avec la même chaleur et le même amour, les embrassant comme les siens. Ses petits-enfants : Brianna & Jamie, Ryan & Tyler, Griffin, Cooper, & Hugo, étaient sa plus grande joie, et il chérissait chaque moment qu’il passait avec eux. Il était aussi un père fier et aimant pour ses chères « princesses » : Pêches, Gerty et Lucy.

Yvon laisse dans le deuil ses frères et sœurs Pierette, Norman, Lynn, Claudette et Adrienne, qui se souviendront de lui pour son amour durable de la famille et la sagesse qu’il partageait si généreusement.

La famille remercie du fond du cœur les incroyables soignants qui ont rendu son combat plein d’espoir, et ses derniers jours paisibles et dignes. À l’équipe compatissante de l’Hôpital Royal Victoria, au personnel dévoué en soins palliatifs du CLSC et aux anges de la Maison Source Bleue. Nous sommes profondément reconnaissants pour votre gentillesse et votre attention.

Bien que nous pleurons profondément sa perte, nous nous réjouissons en sachant que notre père marche maintenant à la lumière de Dieu, entouré d’un amour éternel. Son héritage de foi, de sagesse et d’amour vit en nous tous, et nous porterons son esprit avec nous. Jusqu’à ce que nous nous rencontrions à nouveau. Bon voyage.
