

Retta Marie Galloway 94, of Hobe Sound Florida was an amazing daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was born April 24, 1930 in Philadelphia PA to parents Gustav and Lillian and the younger sister to Florence Mae. She and her family relocated to South Florida. In South Florida is where she met Gren Galloway and they were married December 19th, 1953. She worked for Southern Bell as a switchboard operator until becoming the office manager and co-owner of the flooring company she and Gren opened.
Retta was a proud deacon and member at Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church. Her passion was in traveling and she regularly told stories of their international travels. Hawaii, Europe, Canada, and all across the US were some of the places they visited. Attending the Worlds Fair was always a trip they took together and eventually as a family. Retta, Gren, and Young Jeff attended opening day of Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom in Orlando Florida in 1971. Retta was a animal lover and had several fur babies that she cherished as well as grand fur babies.
Retta has one son Jeff Galloway whom was active in sports and she was always there for his many events from cub scouts to state soccer championships. She even attended Grad Night at Disney as a chaperone! Retta was as equally active as a grandmother to her one grandchild Jennifer. No matter how early or the distance any sports event, dance recital, horse show, pageant, etc she was always there with a smile on her face! All who knew her, knew her love of fashion and even until the very end she was always matching with full hair and make up. Her favorite color being purple with an affinity for rainbows and angels.
Retta was preceded in death by her parents Gustav and Lillian Haderer, sister Florence Mae Haderer, and husband Gren Galloway. She is survived by son and daughter in law Jeff and Penny Galloway, granddaughter and granddaughter in law Jennifer Galloway and Alina Yates.
Graveside service will be Saturday September 7th, 2024 at 1pm at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta Florida. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to a local animal rescue or shelter of your choosing in Rettas name. If attending the graveside service we ask that you wear florals or colorful attire to celebrate the bright life of Retta Galloway.
