Thomas Francis Maloney, Sr., age 81, of St. Louis, Mo. passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Tom was born in Youngstown, OH on September 17, 1940 to William Joseph and Catherine Rita (nee: Ryan) Maloney. They have preceded him in death, as have his siblings Mary Riebe, Bill, and Barbara. Tom is survived by: his loving wife Gwen Bannister; his children: Tom, Tim, Beth Anne, Kate, Colleen (Chris Mehl), Michael (Gabriela), Patrick and their mother Judy Maloney (nee: Clifford); his step-children: Daniel Spurrell, Tracy Spurrell (Mike Paddon); his grandchildren: Jackson Barton, Aidan, Ronan, Amelia, Sofia, Sienna Paddon; and his siblings: Cookie (Dom Pauline), Therese (Dan Durkin), Bob (Debby Hutchinson), Tim (Judy), Maggie Lorenzi, and Ann (Denny DiTullio).
Tom was employed with Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Federal Barge Lines, and with Peavey Barge Lines where he retired as president at the age of 51.
Tom enjoyed rooting for the local St. Louis teams, playing golf with friends and family, and spending time in Florida on his annual family getaway. You could often find Tom reading about great historical events, keeping up with current news, or searching for his next collectible. For the past 5 years he enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife Gwen.
He was thought of as a kind and generous family patriarch – Tom was dearly loved and will sadly be missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at the Westin at the Ballpark (Promenade Ballroom), 811 Spruce St. on Friday November 26 (4-7pm). Flowers may be sent there on the day of the service.
