
HARRIS L. GOLDMAN, age 88 of Swampscott and formerly of Florida, died on Wednesday from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease at the Twin Oaks Nursing home in Danvers. Born in Cambridge the son of the late Charles J. and Marian (Leavitt) Goldman, he was a graduate of Swampscott High School and Bates College class of 1949. He was a life long resident of Swampscott. He served in the US Air Force during World War II in the China, Burma, India Theaters and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
He was a past president of Temple Emanu-El 1970 to 1973 in Marblehad and a former member of the Kernwood Country Club in Salem.
Beloved husband for close to 64 years to Carolyn (Trockman) Goldman. Devoted father of Joan and her husband Michael Finn of Marblehead, Charles and his wife Jody Goldman of Swampscott. Loving brother of Martin (Bozie) Goldman and his wife Maxine of Swampscott and the late James Goldman, Robert Goldman and his surviving wife June of Marblehead. Brother-in-law of the late Muriel and Herbert Witty. Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Stephanie, and Douglas Finn, Cameron and Sydney Goldman. Also survived by many close nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Floor One of Twin Oaks Care and Rehab. Center in Danvers for all their kindnesses and skilled care these past seven months, which allowed Harris to live and die with peace and dignity.
Services at Temple Emanu-EL, 393 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead on Friday, June 8 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Temple Emanu-El Memorial Park, Buxton Rd., (off Route 114W) Danvers. Memorial Observance following the interment until 5:00 p.m., Saturday 7-9:00 p.m. and Sunday 2-4:00 P.M., at the home of Joan and Michael Finn. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be donated to Temple Emanu-El or the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
