Harvey L. Calichman – of Salem, entered into rest on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the age of 79. Devoted father of Peter Calichman and his wife Amy of Lynnfield, Rob Calichman and his wife Meghan of Berkeley Heights, NJ and Jason Calichman and his wife Erin of Swampscott. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra, Jack and Jordan Calichman and Logan and Mackenzie Calichman and Drew, Ty and Finn Calichman. The loving brother of Irna Plotkin. Former spouse of Janice (Yanna) Calichman and the late Marilyn (Longo) Calichman. Dear son of the late David and Evelyn (Sherman) Calichman.
Harvey grew up in Revere, graduated from Revere High School in 1959 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. Harvey was a proud veteran having served during Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he went on to receive his Bachelors from Northeastern University and received a Master’s in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. He was a Sergeant in the Boston Police Department, and went on to be a Probation Officer at Peabody District Court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was an adjunct professor for 37 years at North Shore Community College, where he was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award. He was a dedicated member of Beverly Vietnam Veterans Post #4, a Board member of North Shore Veterans Counseling Service, N.R.A. and G.O.A.L. Harvey raised his family in Swampscott and was a devoted family man who absolutely loved his country, and he enjoyed dancing, storytelling, white russians and spending time with his cherished family and many friends. Harvey was a kind and generous man who will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral services for Harvey are private. Harvey’s final resting place will be at Tifereth Israel of Revere Cemetery in Everett, MA.
