

Herbert H Cohen 100 a World War II decorated Army Veteran. Herb Cohen died surrounded by his family December 8, 2012. He was born and raised in Lynn, MA until his marriage of 50 years to the late Beth (Bazer) Cohen from Peabody, MA, where he raised his family. He will be dearly missed by his two daughters Judy Cohen of Salem, MA and Debby (Cohen) Eskenazi and her husband Sol Eskenazi of Peabody. Herb's pride and joy are is two grandsons, Daniel Eskenazi, Naval Officer stationed in Rota, Spain, and Michael Eskenazi, PhD student at Kent State, Ohio. Herb was studying Structural Engineering before World War II broke out. Herb enlisted in the Army and served bravely in the North African and European Campaign, were he was decorated for his bravery. After the war Herb was employed for 35 years by Stone and Webster in Boston and finished his college degree at night school. Herb had many interest and hobbies, but his passions were exercising, gardening and photography. Herb and Beth were great travelers touring many countries abroad. They both had a passion for the Boston symphony, pops, opera and ballet. Herb and Beth were members of the JCC in Marblehead, where they took active roles in the Senior group at the JJC. Herb and Beth were one of the founding families of Temple Ner Tamid in Peabody, MA. They both were instrumental in the development and growth of the temple. Herb was always there on Thursday nights volunteering at Bingo. Volunteering was very important to Herb. He gave of his time and energy to multiple groups and organizations around the North Shore. Herb’s smile and enthusiasm will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral service will be held at Temple Ner Tamid, 368 Lowell Street Peabody, MA, on Tuesday December 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Followed by burial service at Maple Hill Cemetery Sabino Farm Road, Peabody, MA. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Debra & Sol following the interment on Tuesday thru Thursday. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his name may be donated to the Herbert H Cohen Memorial Fund c/o 368 Temple Ner Tamid Lowell Street Peabody, MA
