Our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Irene Shohet (Renie), passed away on September 27, 2023 from natural causes. She was 95 years old. Irene was born in Roxbury, MA, to Samuel and Daisy Levine. Irene raised her family in Peabody and then Lynnfield.
Her hobbies were reading, doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and playing Bridge, Canasta and Mahjong. She was a life-long learner, and was part of The Explorers Club. She not only got her associate’s degree from Boston University at 19 years old, but she also graduated cum laude from Salem State University at 71 years old. She worked at the Huckleberry Hill Elementary School in Lynnfield for 22 years.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Fred. She leaves three daughters: Janice Shohet, Ellen (and John) Marks, and Judi (and John) Morrison. She also leaves her four granddaughters, Carly (and William) Holm, Alexandra (and Andrew) Manning, Miranda Morrison, and Victoria Morrison; and her great-grandchildren, William and Max Holm.
