

Jonathan Jay Goldberg, of Marblehead MA, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Monday, May 29th at the young age of 41. Loving son to Jeffrey and Marlene Goldberg, cherished grandson to Miriam Kaplan, beloved nephew to Harryette Katzen, caring older brother to Lisa Clark, doting uncle to his nephew, Jack, and the best sibling to his heavenly English Bulldog, Trudie. Jon was predeceased by his loving grandparents Bernie Kaplan and Anne and Jack Goldberg and his aunt Elona Max. A special thanks to Jon’s several cousins whose love and support was immeasurable. Grateful thanks is also extended to Jon’s caretaker, Noe Rojas.
Jon grew up in Marblehead, MA and graduated from Marblehead High School in the class of 2000. He went on to attend and graduate from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he beamed with pride as an IU Hoosier forever, cheering for their sports and making great friends. He loved Boston sports, particularly the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He couldn’t wait for the games on TV and faithfully followed every game. He also had a deep passion for all kinds of music and loved to go to live shows around the Boston area. Jon was a compassionate guy with the most kind heart despite his illness. He loved his family and could talk to anyone for hours on end.
Jon was most happy being surrounded by family and friends and his memory will forever live on.
A funeral service for Jonathan will be held on Wednesday, May 31st at 12:30PM at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel at 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA with burial to follow at Congregation Shirat Hayam Cemetery, 506 Lowell Street, Peabody MA.
Shiva will be held at Kernwood Country Club, 1 Kernwood Street, Salem MA, on Wednesday, May 31, from 3:00pm-7:00pm.
