Born on March 31, 1945, in Far Rockaway, New York, Michael was a gifted and determined student whose academic achievements reflected both intellect and discipline. He was accepted to The Cooper Union before earning his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Rochester.
He met and married the love of his life, Brenda who then moved to Rochester with him. Together they shared 58 years of marriage — a true partnership marked by devotion, mutual respect, and shared purpose. After earning his Ph.D., Brenda gently — and very convincingly — suggested they return to her native Massachusetts. This move was the start of decades of life and family in the place they would call home.
Michael began his career at MIT’s Draper and Lincoln Laboratory before spending many years at a private engineering firm, where he built a long and respected career defined by technical excellence, integrity, and quiet dedication.
Michael and Brenda settled in Burlington, Massachusetts, where they raised their three sons — Adam, Andrew, and Peter — and lived for over 40 years. Of all their accomplishments, Michael and Brenda were most proud of their boys. Michael worked tirelessly and sacrificed to ensure his children had every educational opportunity and the foundation to build successful lives of their own.
Beyond their dedication to family, Michael and Brenda cherished time with friends, enjoying evenings out and building lifelong relationships within their community. They also shared a love of travel, exploring interesting places together and embracing new experiences side by side.
Upon retiring, Michael continued to give back to his community by volunteering at the Burlington Food Pantry, reflecting the same steady commitment to helping others that marked his professional and family life.
He was a devoted grandfather to Matthew, Cooper, Danny, and Layla. He cherished time spent in Needham with Matthew and Danny and in New Hampshire with Cooper and Layla, always ready to lend a hand with childcare or simply be present. Though often quiet in demeanor, Michael’s quick wit was never far behind — he always had a pun ready, delivered with perfect timing.
Through his devotion to his children and grandchildren, Michael built a lasting legacy that is a source of pride for his whole family.
Funeral services will be held on February 22, 2026, 11:30 a.m. at Temple Shalom Emeth, 14 Lexington Street, Burlington, MA.
Following the service, a private burial will take place for immediate family only.
Michael will be remembered for his intelligence, humility, steadfast devotion to family, and the subtle humor that brought light to those around him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Brenda; his sons, Adam, Andrew, and Peter; and his four cherished grandchildren.
