Ada Sylvia Novvak Crist

Ada Sylvia Crist went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 in Salem, Oregon. Ada was born in Oregon City, OR on November 25, 1926 to Edward and Ida May (Grover) Novvak. In 1930, Ida married Willis Guile who Ada lovingly referred to as ‘Daddy Guile’. She graduated from Oregon City high school in 1944, and married William ‘Bill’ Crist on June 27th, 1945. During Bill’s years in civil service, he and Ada lived in many places including Portland, Klamath Falls, and Bremerton, WA. Ada enjoyed many years of flower gardening, which was her great love, and also canning vegetables from her garden. Ada greatly enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, sewing, and supporting many ministries. When she moved from her home to assisted living, she donated her belongings to support the youth ministry of her church.

Ada is survived by her daughter Paula Haney of Burke, SD, sons and spouses Tom & Kathy Crist of Klamath Falls, OR, Bill & Janine Crist of Kenmore, WA, grandchildren and spouses Aaron & Briana Randall, Tina & Dale Thumma, Teron & Kayla Butler, grandchildren Tyler Butler, Jonathan and Isaac Crist, great-grandchildren Emily, Leah, Arik, Ashley, Tyler, Taven, Tegan, Tylan, and Kaiah, great-great grandson Declin, her Redwood Heights family, Kindred Hospice, special friends Jerry Buss, Connie Wagner, and many others.

Services are Monday, September 19th at 12:00pm, with a viewing prior to the service from 9 – 11:30 at Howell, Edwards, and Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors, 1350 Commercial St. SE, Salem, OR.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ada’s name to Kindred Hospice, 2925 River Road South; Suite 100, Salem, OR 97302.
