

Alicia was a lifelong gardening enthusiast, avid reader, world traveler, a devotee of the First Congregational Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Alicia was born August 2, 1930 in Los Angeles California to Lester and Sofie Cover. She moved to Salem Oregon as a young child and in 1948 graduated from Salem High School.
After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Orville Wendell "Curley" Kannier. They were blessed with four children, Kevin Kannier (Chris) Darren Kannier (Denise), Kelsey Griffith (John) and Duff Kannier.
While raising their family Curley passed away in 1975. Alicia persevered and went on to work at Brush College Grade School, put herself through college at Western Oregon University (OCE), which gave her the ability to become one of the first English teachers at the opening of Sprague High School in 1972. She went on to complete her career at S.A.I.F corp.
In the early 1980's Alicia met and married Wallace H. Bonesteele, with this new marriage came 3 step children, Rick Bonesteele (Beth) Mary Jane Bonesteele (Judy) and Angie Cantonwine (Scott).
Alicia was involved in numerous charities throughout her life. She began her Volunteerism with Salem-Keizer Assistance League in 1986. She volunteered for the Salem Hospital, Salem Library and belonged to APEO organization. Alicia was awarded the distinguished service award in 1996 as 1st citizen of Satem Oregon. Alicia was truly invested in her community-She was elected to the Board of Directors at Salem Elective in 1990 and held That position for 30 years.
Wallace "Wally" passed in 1995 and once again Alicia forged ahead, with her commitment to Service. She was an example of Faith, family and Service, always dressed for the occasion.
After Wally's passing Alicia’s faithful companion was David Crockatt until his death.
Alicia is survived by her children, Step-children by marriages and grandchildren. Les Kannier, Ashley Kannier, Savannah Ferrell, Nicole Bell, Katie Prieto, and Sofia Calkins, along with 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four half siblings.
Celebration of life for Alicia will be May 31, 2025 at 11:30 at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 3737 Liberty Rd, S. Salem, Oregon.
