Anthony John Javier Kinnon, 46, passed away from natural causes on January 9, 2026 in Salem, Oregon.
Anthony was born on September 14, 1979, in Bogota, Colombia. He was adopted by Joan Kinnon and spent his early childhood in Milwaukie, Oregon. His family later moved to Los Angeles, California, and eventually to Lancaster, where he continued his education. He graduated from Boys Town High School in Nebraska and soon after enlisted in the United States Army.
Anthony served four years in the Army, including time stationed in Bamberg, Germany, and two tours of duty in Kosovo. After completing his active duty service, he returned to Cypress, California, where he served one year in the National Guard before moving back to Oregon.
Anthony spent much of his adult life living in Washington and Oregon, particularly in the Medford area. He held a variety of jobs, including work with Harry & David and positions connected with the Department of Veterans Affairs. He took great pride in serving fellow veterans and considered it an honor to care for the Veterans Cemetery in White City.
While living in Medford, Anthony met Meagan Rice. Together they welcomed a daughter, Jillian, in 2015. Although they later separated, Anthony remained devoted to staying connected to his daughter.
Anthony loved his family and visited whenever he could. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding his bike, fishing, woodworking
and striking up conversations with others. He was known for greeting strangers with a smile and hoping for a friendly “hello” in return. Singing karaoke was also one of his favorite things to do. He valued simple moments and embraced life with a free spirit.
Anthony is predeceased by his uncles, John Kinnon and Gene Kinnon. He is survived by his daughter, Jillian Rice; his mother, Joan Kinnon; his brother, Aaron Nagaraj Kinnon; his sister, Anjali Kinnon Gasio (Vaolele); his nephews, Noah, Marcos, and Moises; his niece, Ali; and his grand niece, Eva; three aunts and many cousins.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his spirit will be remembered always.
A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA on March 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. The service will include the Honor Guard presentation, a brief prayer service, and conclude with the accompaniment of a bagpiper – a meaningful tradition in the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a veterans’ cause close to your heart.
