January 17, 1958 – May 10, 2025
Charles Everett “Chip” Davis II was born on January 17, 1958 to Charles and Ruth
Davis. The eldest of four children, he was a “chip off the ol’ block”—energetic, sharp-witted, and
strong-willed. Chip spent his childhood in Auburn, CA playing baseball with friends, helping out
in his family’s pool hall, and pushing all the boundaries. The family later relocated to Salem, OR
where Chip graduated from Sprague in 1976.
In 1978, Chip married Susan Mucha, and together they welcomed two daughters, Jessica
Brooke and Leslie Ann. In 1993, he married Dolly, and the family grew with the arrival of
Samantha Grace and Charles Everett Davis III. A proud father of four, Chip loved his children
deeply and considered them his life’s greatest accomplishment.
Baseball wasn’t just a pastime—it was a passion. Chip played in recreational leagues as a
young adult and later dedicated many years to the local little league while coaching and
supporting his youngest daughter, Sam, and son, Charlie.
Later in life, Chip returned to his roots as the manager of a local pool hall, where he was
known for his no-nonsense management style, quick humor, and welcoming presence—so long
as you played by the rules. In 2019, he retired to his personal paradise—his tree-lined home
backing up to a peaceful pond—where he lived with his wife, Barbara. In true Chip fashion, he
ran for public office in 2020 after recognizing the need for stronger senior representation.
Chip will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his gift for making others feel like
the most important person in the room, and his enduring love of aviators, Pepsi, and signature
classic white Nike “dad” shoes.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Jessica, Leslie, Samantha, and Charles
III; fifteen grandchildren; his sister, Sheri; and his brothers, Scott and Jeff. He is reunited in
death with his parents, Charles and Ruth. His children loved him dearly and take great comfort in
knowing they will see him again in heaven.
