

Cheryl passed away on February 29th with her loving family by her side. She was born in Salem, OR to Leroy and Velva Perkins. After high school she married Delbert Carter and they had 4 sons, Jeff, Scott, Chris, and Paul. After her divorce from Delbert she met the love of her live. Cheryl married Ray Hawkins on February 2, 1985.Cheryl was a happy homemaker and able to stay at home to care for her children. Cheryl was very creative and talented with her hands. She made the most beautiful handcrafted dolls, beaded bags, and needlepoint. She and her sister, Billie, owned a ceramic shop and loved to teach others what they knew. Cheryl loved to be with her family and friends. Her door was always open and she loved to cook for everyone.Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Velva Perkins, 2 sisters Lila Duffus and Billie Johnson, 2 sons Jeff and Chris Carter and 1 step-son Kenneth Hawkins, and a granddaughter Melissa Carter. She is survived by her husband Ray, sister Velva Holcom, 2 sons Scott (Lisa) Carter and Paul Carter, daughter-in-law Lisa (Von) Drohman-Carter step-daughters Mary Hawkins and Brenda Santizo, step-son Larry (Molly) Hawkins, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for March 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2001 Oak Grove Road NW, Salem, OR. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 3rd Street NW, Salem, OR, (503)588-3600, 800-555-2431.
