Salem- Dorothy Roberta (Walker) Rabe passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 15, 2013 into the arms of her Savior who was waiting at Heaven’s door to receive her.
Dorothy was born in Brownsville, Oregon on May 13, 1926. She attended school in Springfield and Lebanon and graduated from Grant High School in Portland, Oregon.
Dorothy moved to Salem and attended the Capital Business College for one year. She worked at Millers Dept. Store from 1945-1951 and then at Mead Products from 1967-1977, as a shipping clerk. Dorothy and her husband Keith were involved in teaching square dancing in Salem, Monmouth, and Corvallis.
Dorothy enjoyed being with her family, gardening (especially her roses), ceramics, and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Keith Franklin Rabe and her sister Barbara Webb.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She is survived by her three sons, Gary Rabe of Salem, David (Jan) Rabe of Tigard and Dennis (Rebecca) Rabe of Salem, her grandchildren David Jr. (Linda) Rabe, Matthew and Michael Rabe of Salem; great-grandson Greg Rabe; brother-in-law Del Webb of Friday Harbor, Washington; her very loved nephew G. Webb of Covina, California and niece Delene Webb of Banning, California.
The Family is supremely blessed and thankful for The Sweet Bye N Bye Senior Care facility and Willamette Valley Hospice for lovingly caring for their mother.
A public viewing will be held at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24th, from 3-5pm.
A public memorial service will be held at Belcrest Mausoleum Chapel on Friday, January 25th at 3:00pm.
