He graduated from Washington State University in 1965. He served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965. He worked for the US Forest Service in Forks and Seattle, WA and Glide, OR. After his retirement in 1994, he helped clear trails with the Motley Crew and he was a volunteer for the Marion-Polk Food Share, Upward Basketball, Operation Christmas and Awana.
Ed enjoyed fishing in Alaska, hiking, collecting baseball cards, Bible Study Fellowship, gardening and spending time with the family.
On June 20, 1970 he married Helen Perrigo. He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Karen (Nathan) Brown of Beaverton; Cheryl Malmsten of Keizer; Ray (Beth) Malmsten of Keizer; four grandchildren; sister, Janice Mouton of Evanston IL; and brother, Neal (Doreen) Malmsten of Redding CA.
