

Ken McFarland-loving husband, father, brother, and friend passed away Jan 14th at the age of 85. Ken was born on Dec. 30th, 1939 in Lewistown, Montana to Agnes & Kenneth Lee Farland. The family moved to Oregon when Ken was 12 years old where he later attended Serra Catholic High School in Salem. Ken met his high school sweetheart, Laurie Kolsky, when he was a sophomore in High School and the couple married on July 22nd, 1961. Ken & Laurie had two sons, Steven Glenn & Michael Dean-both who have preceded their parents in death, with Ken losing his wife Laurie in 2019. Ken started his career as a Commercial Painter in 1958 apprenticing for Repine & Gregg. He stayed with the company for 26 years, working his way up to Journeyman Painter. Ken started two companies in 1984, CarMac Painters and L&K Leasing. After selling both his businesses he returned to working with Repine & Gregg until 1998 when he officially retired. Ken came out of retirement in 2000 to drive delivery truck for Orson’s Greenhouses until June of 2007. It was then that the couple both retired and turned to traveling. They enjoyed visiting many placed in their Motor Coach and traveled extensively across the United States as well as Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan and China. Ken was an avid woodworker, fisherman and crabber, and loved spending time on the water. He was a past member of the Holiday Rambler Association and the Bass & Panfish Club. Services for Ken will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Home, 605 Commercial St Se, Salem, OR at 11:00am on Friday, January 24th.
