

Lucky served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from South Dakota State College (University), Division of Pharmacy in 1958. He moved to Salem in 1968 from Brookings, South Dakota. He worked at the Labor Center Pharmacy as a Pharmacist for 44 1/2 years. Lucky and Sherry (Matson) were married on August 29, 1981.
Lucky was a Charter member and Life-time member of the Keizer Elks Lodge #2472, Associate member of Salem Elks #336, Newport Eagles #2817, Associate member Salem Eagles #2081, American Legion Post #198, Elkton, So. Dakota and VFW. Past member of the Oregon State Pharmacy Association and Marion, Polk, Yamhill County Pharmacy Association.
Lucky was preceded in death by his Parents, a Brother Robert, Sister Betty and nephew Doug.
Happy to have shared 34 years of his life with his wife Sherry. He is survived by Sons, Steve (Rhonda) Schafer of Salem; Blake Matson of Jefferson; Rick (Joann) Matson of Salem and a Daughter, Tammi (Bernie) Bowles of Turner, OR and; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Curtis Clausen of Marshall, Minnesota plus several nieces and nephews and many many friends.
Per Lucky’s request no services will be held, a private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. A celebration of life “A Party for Lucky” will be held on Saturday, October 24th at the Keizer Civic Center, 930 Chemawa Rd NE, Keizer, OR from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. Contributions may be made in memory of Lucky to Aviva Children’s Services; www.avivatucson.org/.
