Richard "Rick" Wayne Patton, 61, of Salem, joined our Heavenly Father on June 5th, 2018. Godspeed to the man known as husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. We take comfort in the thought that he is at peace though we know a piece of our heart went with him on June 5th. He truly is loved too much to be forgotten.
Rick was born to Wayne and Arnette Patton in Tulare, CA on February 15th, 1957. Rick and his parents moved to Oregon when we was young, where he grew up enjoying camping, hunting and motorbike riding. His love for the outdoors continued into adulthood, enjoying camping trips with his wife and kids. Rick became a level 2 Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do and was an instructor for several years. He also honed his skill as a woodworker; turning bowls, sawing out intricate patterns and crosses, and gifting them to those he loved. Rick served in the Army which provided him the opportunity to explore Germany, which he remembered fondly.
One of his greatest loves was being a grandpa and spending time with his grandkids; playing at the park, going out for ice cream, throwing the ball or just making them laugh. His grandkids loved him with all their hearts.
Rick married Darlene Owen on June 16, 1990. They would have celebrated their 28th anniversary in a few weeks. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene, daughters, Brittany Patton of Salem and Misty Patton of Bakersfield, CA, son and daughter in law, Robert and Kasi of Salem, his sister and brother in law Polly and Chris Camomile of Albany and brother Mitch Patton of Idaho. He has 3 grandchildren, Kacy of Bakersfield, Crystal of Salem and AJ of Salem. He is also survived by special second mom, Aunt Bev and many other aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Steve Patton and son Richard Boes.
A celebration of life and reception will be held on June 25th, 2018, 4pm at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Ringdon-Ransom Funeral Directors 1350 Commercial Street SE, Salem, OR 97302. Please come join us in fellowship to remember and honor the life of Rick.
