Robin was born in Portland, Oregon on October 21, 1956. She graduated from Rex Putnam High School in 1974. In high school she had a great group of friends that called themselves “The Explorers Club” who she went on many hiking and caving adventures with. She sang in the choir throughout school and also played the bagpipes; she was always very proud of being a female piper during a time when it was a male-dominated instrument.
Robin joined the air force in 1975 and served until honorably discharged in 1977. After basic training she was stationed in Greece, where she learned to make baklava and Greek chicken - both of which she enjoyed making regularly for the rest of her life. Robin worked for the State of Oregon for over 20 years before retiring in January of 2022.
Robin faced many hardships and challenges in her life, but she repeatedly persevered. She was a strong Christian who loved the Lord and her faith was very important to her; she prayed a lot for her children, other relatives, and friends. She loved her children and would do anything to support them. As grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews came along, she did all she could to support and love them as well.
Robin had a lifelong love of gardening. She loved flowers and herbs and had a passion for growing and canning her own vegetables. She also loved sewing and considered this skill one of her strengths; she made many clothes over the years for both her children and grandchildren, quilts, beautiful Christmas stockings, curtains and more; several times she even made a living making stuffed animals, dolls, hotpads and glasses cases. She enjoyed crocheting, making many blankets and scarves for loved ones over the years. She had strong opinions about how everyone should know how to cook and she loved both cooking and baking! She came up with varied and creative meal plans and made the most fabulous cakes, cookies, pastries and desserts. She was an avid reader and her house was full of books; she also loved writing and wrote many poems throughout her life - this one describes her best: “A good book, a stormy night, a quiet dinner by candlelight, a warm hearth where weary feet can rest… simple pleasures are the best.”
Robin was a naturally curious and creative person, always looking to learn something new or interesting and share it with you; often with a twinkle in her eye or a mischievous smile. She shared and passed many of her skills and passions down to her children and her friends; she was extremely well loved and will be missed often. Robin is survived by her children Aimee McAdams, Gwen Lewis, and Aaron Cloudwood; her two sons-in-law, both of them Jeremys, and her daughter-in-law Anne; her grandchildren Amaya and Harriet; her sister Laurie and brother Larry; her niece and nephews Amanda, Zachary, and Anthony; her great-nieces and nephews - Jessica, Bailey, Claire, Rosie, Caleb, Chloe, Remy, June, Colt and Sage; as well as her extremely spoiled and well-loved cat Yoshi.
Preceding Robin in death are her daughter Jessica; her parents Don & Shirley Leedy; her nephew Jason; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all of whom she had many stories about. Her children are planning a gathering to celebrate her life on the afternoon of Sunday, August 17th. Please reach out for further details.
