Albert Gonzalez, 69, passed away while surrounded by loved ones at the Oregon Veterans Home in Lebanon on March 7, 2018.
Albert was born in Elsa, Texas to Juan and Petra L Gonzalez. He attended grade school in Monte Alto Elem. He moved with the family to Oregon in 1961. He graduated from Jefferson high School. After graduation he was drafted into the Army where he soon became a Sergeant. He served in Vietnam where he was wounded and was presented a Purple Heart. After many surgeries at the Veteran’s Hospital, he was medically discharged with many medals.
When returning to civilian life, he attended Merrit Davis School of Business and received an Associates in Accounting. He then attended OSU and earned a BA in Business Administration. He worked for his brother-in-law, Don, for Mid-Valley Delivery, and retired from Hewlett-Packard.
Albert and Audrey were married in 1989 at Faith Lutheran Church in Albany, Oregon. He then acquired Audrey’s large family with lots of grandchildren, which he enjoyed. He was their “Papa Albert.” Audrey and Albert lived on 7 acres in Jefferson. Both loved to work outside (planted 500 trees), many flower and vegetable gardens, and different types of berries and grapes.
After both retired, the bought a 5th wheel and loved to travel the United States, but they preferred the Oregon State Parks.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Donald Forcier. He leaves his wife of 29 years, Audrey. His sisters, Teresa (Ramon), Maria, Eva, and Lupe (Alfredo Arellano), Leonila (Steve Hochspeier), brothers; Javier (Susan) and Leonardo. Many nieces, nephews and Audrey’s family.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Oregon Veterans Home in Lebanon, they are so amazing and it was such a blessing to be cared for with such love. Thank you.

Visitation will be held at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Home on Tues. March 20 from 4-8pm. Memorial Service held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Lebanon, Oregon, Wed. March 21 at 11:00am. Burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon, Thurs. Mauch 22 at 1:00pm. Arrangements made by Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Home.

Rodrigo leaves behind his sisters, Teresa, Maria, Eva, Lupe. Leonia; his brothers, Javier, Leonardo, and many nieces, nephews and Audrey's family.
