Bardin Blake Koerpel

1982~2012

One of the best, brightest and most sincere human beings has slipped beyond our reach. Our dear Blake passed away on a winding coastal California highway on Sunday, February 26th. He was born on October 21st 1982. He lived his life with humility, gentleness, kindness, presence and wonder. He is dearly held in our hearts and will be truly missed in our lives. Survived by parents, Judi and Jim Imlay, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 nephews and many extended family. Preceded in death by his father Barry J. Koerpel.

Services will be held Saturday March 10th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., First Unitarian Church, 569 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment immediately following, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South. The family invites everyone to a reception following services. Blake felt more at ease climbing a 500 foot sheer cliff than he did anywhere else. He also loved snowboarding, surfing, camping, mountaineering and GOOD food! He loved being on the open road headed toward his next great adventure. His passion for life and people was infectious to everyone he met. The world came alive when Blake was around. He was a happy, playful man who loved to share his joy with the rest of the world. Blake had a deep sense of commitment to the the earth and thus treaded very lightly on this planet. His love for his friends and family was one of a much older soul than his 29 years. He always strived to connect and was committed to growing them as deep as as possible. His goals in life were simple: to see as much of this world as possible. To climb as close to the clouds as he could (and sometimes above them), and to show the people around him that he was thinking of their needs or interests and that they were both important and loved. In all of his endeavors whether from the body, mind or heart he succeeded greatly. We will miss his beautiful smile, his big giving heart and carry his soul in our hearts.
