

Betty Jean Nance, our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away May 21, 2012 in Murray, Utah. Betty was born on July 31, 1935 in Wilmington, North Carolina to Ira Ashby McCary and Helen Roosevelt Liggan. While growing up she was an avid dancer, performing frequently, even with a performance on The Little Rascals television show. She graduated in 1953 from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh. Betty married Arthur Bone shortly after high school and began raising her family with great love and complete devotion. They were later divorced. After her children were grown Betty continued to care for, love, and influence other children when she worked as a nanny. Betty had a genuine love for others and gave of herself to brighten the lives of those around her. Betty lived in Utah for the last two years being close to her daughter and her daughter’s family. She gracefully endured to the end with patience, faith, and humor amid many health challenges. Betty is survived by her sister, Sandra Lee Pierpoint, her children, Gene Bone (Maureen), Leisa Hansen (Brad), Trent Bone (Susan), six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Nance of Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Betty’s family would like to express their appreciation for the love, companionship, and tender care she received from Alta Ridge Alzheimer’s Community, Rocky Mountain Care Center, and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
