Michael was a great and close friend all through school.

Michael Olsen

A small stone from mountains of the
Westside traveled down the
streams of life.

The stone was rough and rugged as
it bounced along those streams.

Bit by bit the edges were worn away
as it tumbled among the boulders of life.

Bit by bit the stone lost it roughness
and became very shiny and smooth.

After the many years of time, this small
rough stone slowly became
a polished gem.

No longer a rough mountain stone but
a bright sparkling jewel in the eyes of those
who shared with him, his tumbled life.

To become one of God’s most precious
polished stones, a real Friend,
Known as Michael.

I first met Michael when my sister, Leigh, took me to a wrestling match in Weston where Michael was competing. It was so cool to watch. He became my big brother and Tony and I were fascinated with his hot rods and guns and his ability to make everything fun! He was always interested and concerned for us growing up. We lost contact in later years but whenever I saw Mike, he had that signature smile that let you know he loved you; this I cherish. I will miss him greatly.

It was fun growing up with Michael. We had fun picking up potatoes for Bishop Tingey with Michael and Clint and going through school together. Michael taught Diann and I how to shoot a gun. I received a great big bruise on my biceps. We always had a great time together and laughing. My greatest moment was when we went to the Logan Temple to get baptized for the dead. The power went out just as he went under and when he stood up he couldn't see and he said, "I'm blind, I'm blind." He thought he had been struck dumb. Thanks for the memories. May your reunions with family be wonderful.
Love, DeAnn Benson Redmond

I ran into my Uncle Mike a few months back, I am so ever grateful for that time we had even though it was short. He was a faithful fighter up until the end. Thank you for all your memories, your love of old cars. Weston Days, and being an awesome Uncle. I am so grateful for the memories of our reunions, visits in Brigham, and car shows!!! We will never forget you and know you are celebrating up in heaven with your loved ones. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Until we meet again. Love your niece & family.
