Richard Wagner Jones, 71, passed away on May 7, 2016 in Salt Lake City, UT after a long fight with Multiple Myeloma. He was born October 19, 1944 in Salt Lake City, UT to Horace Allen Jones and Emma Wagner Jones.
He was married to Melanie Ann Elmer in Salt Lake City, UT and celebrated their 34th anniversary in January. They resided in Holladay, UT most of their married life where they raised their four sons and attended the Cottonwood First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Dick grew up in Holladay. He attended Oakwood Elementary, Olympus High School, University of Utah, with a degree in Microbiology, and completed some graduate work in California. He loved keeping up with advances in research. He was a caring person who loved his family and enjoyed working with them. He had a resilient personality. He helped the less fortunate and was heavily involved in politics. He founded a charity that was involved in programs for improving the environment for people, wildlife habitats, and pets.
Dick is survived by his wife, Melanie Ann (Elmer) Jones; sons: Rick Jones (Theora and son Leo), Ryan Jones, Raymond Jones, and Robby Jones; siblings: Arlene Jackman, Wilma Jepperson, Norma Draayer (Dennis), and Robert Jones (Vera).
Services will be May 20, 2016 at Cottonwood First Ward, 5913 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84121, at 11:30 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:15 am prior to the services.
